One of NARIDE's most visible achievements has been the revival of five agricultural cooperative societies that now serve as vital economic hubs for communities across Eastern Uganda — creating employment, enabling value addition, and connecting smallholder farmers to better markets.

Activity Objective

To promote collective marketing and value addition by restoring cooperative societies across 5 districts, creating jobs for over 5,000 community members.

    Kalapata Cooperative Society (Pallisa) — restored as food store and market collection centre.

    Kamonkoli Cooperative Society (Budaka) — value addition site for agricultural produce.

  • 3

    Nabiganda Cooperative Society (Butaleja) — food processing and collective marketing hub.

  • 4

    Dabani Cooperative Society (Busia) — cross-border trade and storage facility.

  • 5

    Lubongi Cooperative Society (Tororo) — employing skilled and unskilled labour.

  • 6

    Each cooperative employs an average of 1,000 community members — both skilled and unskilled.

  • 7

    Cooperatives serve as food stores, market collection centres, and value-addition sites.
